Eventos de CP-IDEA 2012
Dear PC-IDEA Members,
We would like to inform you about events scheduled for this year related to the Permanent Committee for Geospatial Data Infrastructure of the Americas (PC-IDEA), in order to be included in your agenda for attendance according to your possibilities. They are specific PC-IDEA events, when organized or co-organized by PC-IDEA, or organized by other entities whose PC-IDEA members´ attendance we would like to recommend. The events are listed in chronological order.
1. Global Geospatial Conference 2012 (GSDI 13 - http://www.gsdi.org/gsdiconf/gsdi13/) - co-organized by the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) Association and by the GEOmatics for Informed DEcisions (GEOIDE) Canadian network, to be held from 14 to 17 of May 2012, in Québec City, Canada. PC-IDEA has two papers accepted for oral presentation: "PC-IDEA Initiatives towards Spatially Enabling the Americas" and "An Overview on the Status of SDI Relevant Issues in PC-IDEA Member Countries";
2. Second Session of the Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management - UNCE-GGIM (http://ggim.un.org/ggim_committee.html) - organized by the United Nations, to be held from 13 to 15 of August 2012, at UN facilities in New York, USA. We strongly recommend your attendance to this important global initiative in the area of geospatial information. Unfortunately, the possibilities of financial support to Committee members at this point in time do not practically exist, thus we suggest you to try to get the necessary resources from your country;
3. Latin America Geospatial Forum (http://lagf.org) - organized by Geospatial Media and Communications with participation of PC-IDEA, similarly to the format of the first edition of this event, held last year. This second edition will be held from 15 to 17 of August 2012, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As in last year´s event, we have established an agreement with the organizers and as such one representative of each PC-IDEA member-country will be waived from the payment of the event registration fee;
4. 8th PC-IDEA Meeting - organized by the Committee, it will be held on 16 of August 2012, in Rio de Janeiro, in the scope of the Latin America Geospatial Forum. This date has been specially chosen in order to allow the participation of members who will also attend the UNCE-GGIM meeting, at the beginning of the same week in New York. Your attendance to this meeting is anxiously expected in order to allow the advance of PC-IDEA activities. The agenda will be made available in the next couple of months;
5. Seminar "Las IDE al Servicio de la Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres Naturales" - co-organized by PC-IDEA (coordinated by Colombia and Canada) and by Geospatial Media and Communications, this full day event will be held on 17 of August 2012, in Rio de Janeiro, also in the scope of the Latin America Geospatial Forum. This seminar corresponds to the fulfillment of Resolution 5 of the Ninth United Nations Regional Cartographic Conference of the Americas, being its realization approved during the 7th PC-IDEA Meeting, through Recommendation 15;
6. 19th United Nations Regional Cartographic Conferences for Asia and the Pacific (http://unstats.un.org/unsd/geoinfo/RCC/unrccap19.html) - organized by the United Nations, in collaboration with PCGIAP (equivalent to PC-IDEA for Asia and the Pacific), it will be held from 29 of October to 2 of November 2012, at UN facilities in Bangkok, Thailand. The participation of PC-IDEA members is welcomed.
